Education program
We place great importance on quality education.
While the introduction of free primary education in Uganda has been successful in raising primary school enrollment it has generally not been matched by increases in teachers or classrooms, resulting in overcrowding of schools. We have provided much needed equipment at all of our partner schools.
Teaching methods are stuck in the “chalk and talk” era, creativity is limited, practical skills are neglected and children learn too little about their culture and the world they live in. We organize workshops that cover art and drama, English, healthcare and swimming.
To date we are soliciting for funds and looking forward to renovating five primary schools – Katiba, Kishanje, Mugyera Kshasha and Kitojo in the Rubanda District.
Additionally, we have initiated four Nursery Schools for children aged between three and five. These nurseries offer a relaxed, positive and stimulating environment for the children.
We believe that training teachers is crucial to good education and try to run regular workshops for our nursery teachers.
